FULL MOON IN GEMINI - KRIYA TO SOLVE COMMUNICATION PROBLEMS

The moon is rising in Gemini, full moons are energetic peaks which shine a powerful Light on whatever is coming full circle in your life. The Gemini is an Air sign, it’s qualities are are changeable, playful and light, so this full moon is the perfect for opening our creative communication channels so we speak and live our truth. We can use the full moon energy to confront the fears and blocks to our creativity that keep us from manifesting the dreams and goals that were inspired by the Sagittarius New Moon energy of the last couple of weeks.  We can release our natural creativity by working into our throat chakra and nurturing our ability to communicate our truth authentically.
The fifth chakra, or throat chakra, along with the 2nd chakra, or sacrum chakra are the energy centres associated with our creativity and our power to effectively communicate – by speaking and listening, and the expression of your personality.  On a physical level our fifth chakra affects the throat, neck, mouth and thyroid and parathyroid glands, which regulate metabolism. When the fifth chakra is unbalanced physical illnesses such as hyper- or hypothyroidism, low energy or fatigue, laryngitis, throat cancer and neck problems.
The colour associated with the fifth chakra is blue and the element is ether, or ethereal energy. This is where the fifth chakra gets it subtlety from. We can think of ether as that invisible matter that makes up the universe, or what the world emerged from. This concept is closely associated with sound vibration, In humans, the fifth chakra is the home of our vibrations –our voice box, or larynx.
The fifth chakra is damaged by speaking any words that are not your authentic Truth, this does not mean speaking lies, it includes words spoken thoughtlessly or in agreement with something you don’t believe. Our creativity starts in the second chakra, the home of our sexuality and passion, however to fully express our creativity we need to lift the energy up to the fifth chakra.  Silence and the chanting of high vibration mantra is very healing to the fifth chakra as is Jalandhara Bandha (chin lock), which should always be held when chanting mantra.
During this Full Moon become aware of the creativity of your words, the energy of Gemini is social in nature and it’s a good time to get together with friends.  Remember to be conscious of the creative power of your words, speak wisely and open insightful conversations with your lovers, friends and co-workers, use the power of this full moon to deepen your soul connections.
Buddhi Mudra (thumb pad touching the pad of the little finger) is associated with the planet Mercury, the planet of expression and communication. By holding this mudra you enhance the centres of communication in your brain, try holding Buddhi Mudra when you are in conversation with someone and you want your words to be effective.  The Meditation to Solve Communication Problems taps into this Mercury power and helps to heal energy imbalances in the fifth chakra.

NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS – MEDITATION TO MAGNIFY THE RADIANT BODY

Last Saturday brought us a new moon in Sagittarius, new moons are times of new beginnings in our lives, the energy of a new moon helps us to start new projects or set new intentions. This new moon in Sagittarius calls us to expand our minds so we can better understand our spiritual nature.  Sagittarius is a visionary sign, it inspires us to extend ourselves beyond our physical bodies and connect with the infinite.
This week’s meditation is for the Radiant Body, the Radiant body is a field of energy that extends beyond our auric field and connects us with the universal light.  Energy comes into our body through the crown chakra and goes up and down the spine picking up speed and then extends and builds up in the Radiant Body.  A weak Radiant Body makes us fearful, our energy levels are low and we have difficulty with commitment to our goals. when we have a strong Radiant Body we are courageous and radiant. Courage is a heart word, it literally means heart strength, working on the Radiant Body gives us this heart strength and connects us with green prosperity energy.
The Meditation to magnify the radiant body will help you feel happy, creative and prosperous.  Yogi Bhajan told the story of giving this mediation to a man who was very sick and who had been told by doctors that he had three months to live.  After practicing the meditation for 40 days and also making some changes to his diet, the man was in excellent health and did not suffer a relapse.
If you spread the fingers of the left hand as wide as possible and to pull the navel in powerfully on each repetition of the words ‘Such’ your intuition is also enhanced.
TUNE IN: Always remember to tune in using the Adi Mantra before doing any Kundalini Yoga or Meditation to achieve the best results. Check out my youtube to learn the Adi Mantra.
MEDITATION TO MAGNIFY THE RADIANT BODY
POSTURE: Sit cross-legged position or on a straight-backed chair with both feet resting comfortably on the floor, with a straight spine and a gently neck lock (jalandhar bhandh).
MUDRA:  Spread the fingers of the left hand as wide as possible and place the hand on the heart center with the thumb pointing up.  Make a fist of the right hand with the index finger extended and pointing up.  Place the right arm by the side with the tip of the index finger at eye level and the palm facing forward.
EYE FOCUS: Focus your eyes on the third eye point between your eyebrows.

MANTRA : Aad Such.
Jugaad Such.
Haibee Such.
Nanak Hosee Bhee Such.
The meaning of this powerful mantra (part of the Mool Mantra) is; True in the beginning.  True throughout the ages.  True at this moment.  Nanak says this Truth shall ever be.
Chant the mantra  pulling in the navel  strongly on each “Such” .
TIMING:  Time is open, Yogi Bhajan taught it for 8 minutes , however 11 minutes  would be a powerful practice.

TO FINISH:  Inhale deeply, hold, exhale completely and relax.  Seal your practice by chanting three long Sat Nam’s.

I WAS A SUGAR ADDICT  - KUNDALINI YOGA KRIYA TO DETOX
As a recovering sugar addict I feel qualified to speak on this subject.  I literally grew up in a lolly shop, my parents ran a small milk bar in Sydney and one of my earliest memories is of crawling into the glass lolly cabinet and enjoying the colourful treats.  My family continued in the grocery business for all of my formative years and as I hit puberty I found that I could soothe my emotions very easily with sugary treats that made me feel better.  One of the lasting legacies of this time is a mouth full of very expensive dental work.  It’s probably not surprising that I wasn’t the healthiest in those days, I constantly battled sore throats and tonsillitis and suffered with terrible acne.  When I was 13 a doctor prescribed antibiotics to cure my acne – I took 8 capsules a day and it did seem to do the trick.  I continued on the antibiotics, slowly weaning myself down to 8 capsule a day until I was in my early 20’s.  By that time I had discovered ‘exercise’ and it helped me become stronger and control my weight.  I became a bit of a fitness fanatic , taking up competition squash, jogging and eventually yoga – I would do anything EXCEPT give up sugar to remain fit and healthy.
I’ve noticed that the combination of sugar addition or other forms of emotional eating and physical fitness fanaticism are not uncommon and I’ve met lots of otherwise extremely healthy people who are addicted to sugar, cheese or salty food.  I believe that addiction to sugar is just difficult to break as addiction to alcohol, cigarettes or drugs, and because it’s socially acceptable, it’s perhaps more difficult. Through the practice of Kundalini Yoga and Meditation I’ve managed to break my own sugar addiction and I’ve become more conscious about my emotional eating patterns.  I’ve also learned about the nutrition of sugar addiction with my friend Tricia Rufus, Nutrition Coach and former sugar addict. I’ve learned how to create yummy delicious food minus sugar and I can feel the difference in my health and wellbeing.  Amazingly I no longer crave sugar on a daily basis. I still eat fruit and other naturally sweet foods but I don’t feel controlled by the need to eat something sweet, I now have lots of tools to help me control my emotional eating and most of the time I can do it.
I want to share what I’ve learned and together with Tricia I’m teaching Kick Your Sugar Habit Workshops where I teach Kundalini Yoga and Meditation for detoxification and clarity about emotional eating and Tricia teaches about the nutrition of sugar addition and demonstrates how easy it is to cook healthy sweet sugar free treats.  Join us at KYC Yoga, Newtown, Sydney next Friday 21st November from 7-9pm for our next workshop ($45 book at http://www.fitnessfood.com.au/#!kick-your-sugar-habit/c1n5u)

KUNDALINI YOGA KRIYA FOR DETOXIFICATION
Always tune in with the Adi Mantra before practicing Kundalini Yoga, see how on my youtube Tuning in with the Adi Mantra
1. Lie down on your back with your legs straight. Your heels are together and your toes point upward. Keeping your heels together, spread your feet apart so that they both point out to the sides. The right foot points to the right and the left foot points to the left. Then close your feet so they once again point straight upward. Continue quickly opening and closing your feet, keeping your heels together. Continue for 4 minutes.
2. Remain on your back and put your hands under your head. Raise your legs up about two feet and scissor the legs up and down without letting the descending heel touch the ground. Keep your legs straight, do not bend at the knees. This exercise clears up inner anger when done vigorously. Continue for 4 minutes.
3. Lie down on your stomach and stick out your tongue. Exhale through your mouth and push up into Cobra Pose. Inhale through your mouth as you lower yourself back to the ground. Continue, keeping your breath and movement strong. This exercise removes toxins from the body. Continue for 6 1/2 minutes.
4. Turn over on to your back and bring your knees up to your chest. As the knees touch the chest, raise your arms up to 90 degrees (parallel to each other). Straighten your legs and lower your arms and legs back to the floor at the same time. Continue this movement vigorously for 3 minutes. This is a controlled movement. There should be no noise when the arms and legs touch the ground.
5. Sit in Easy Pose and revolve the torso around the base of the spine. This churning movement is done in a counter-clockwise direction. Continue for 3 minutes. Move as quickly as you can during the last minute.

6. Stand up. Bend over and grab your ankles. While holding onto your ankles, sit down in Crow Pose and come back up. Continue this movement for 2 minutes.
7. Sit comfortably in Easy Pose with your spine straight. Chant Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Sat Nam, Wahe Guru. One full repetition of the mantra takes 7-8 seconds. Continue for 11 minutes.
To finish: Inhale deeply and stretch your arms over your head with your palms touching. Hold your breath 20-40 seconds as you stretch your spine upward. Exhale. Repeat this sequence two more times. Then relax on your back to allow the full effects of the yoga  practice.  Complete your practice by chanting three long ‘Sat nam’s, Sat Nam means I am Truth, Truth is my identity.
